Denmark’s new jazz star is a Norwegian and has the name Live Foyn Friis. Her musical landscape ranges broadly from traditional big band jazz to the more delicate and modern indie-flirty expression that appears in her indie-jazz quartet “Live Foyn Friis”, which we will experience at the Oslo Jazz Festival.
She has recently toured and played sold-out concerts in Germany, been nominated for Danish Music Award for best vocal jazz album and named the year’s young jazz composer of DR (Danmarks Radio) and Denmark’s new jazz star of the DPA (Danish Popular Authors). Besides working with a group under her own name, Foyn Trio!, which she started in 2009, and various big bands, she has also appeared with more famous names like Bugge Wesseltoft and Jarle Bernhoft here in Norway.
We are talking about an outstanding jazz vocalist with an irresistible presence and charisma both in music and on stage. A young artist who has worked hard in recent years producing results we can applaud. In Oslo this August you can expect a beautiful concert where jazz meets Nordic indie-pop topped with enchanting vocals.
While waiting to the concert you can listen to some of her music here.
