General Post Office met at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and plays a mix of blues and free jazz. They are inspired by the expressive free jazz wave of the 60’s and by old blues heroes such as Robert Johnson and Howlin’ Wolf. Their music is energetic, and it changes fast from simple and melodious themes to intense and unpolished free play.
The band played at Vill Vill Vest and Oslo Jazz Festival’s Nordic Showcase last year and received brilliant reviews by Bergens Tidende and Jazzwise Magazine.
After their fantastic Nordic Showcase-concert at Oslo Jazz Festival last year, we have therefore invited them back to this year’s festival, in addition to sending them to the Estonian festival Tudengijazz.
General Post Office are currently working on their debut album, but they will play a new concert at Oslo Jazz Festival before then, which definitely will be as good as last year’s.
