Håkon Kornstad is a jazz saxophonist who became an opera tenor. He has fronted the critically acclaimed bands Håkon Kornstad Trio and Wibutee, and played with musicians such as Sidsel Endresen, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Bugge Wesseltoft and Anja Garbarek. Kornstad has received rave reviews in New York Times and broad coverage in renowned jazz magazines all over the world. He has released more than 20 albums, some of them being nominated for Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy). In 2015, Kornstad was honoured with the “Buddy Prize”, Norwegian jazz’s highest award.
In parallel with his own legendary combinations of jazz and opera in Norway and abroad, both in solo, trio and orchestra format, he continues his work on developing as a classical singer.
