The Danish percussionist and composer Marilyn Mazur has assembled ten of today’s foremost female Scandinavian musicians for her latest world jazz project. She is often described as the Danish queen of jazz and is the only woman who has been a part of Miles Davis’ band.
Shamania was formed in 2015 when Copenhagen Jazz Festival suggested to revive Mazur’s old music theatre group Primi Band from the 80’s. This led her to create a new group of talented female musicians to present new versions of the ideas from Primi: a growing female community centred around good energy and movement. Since their first concert I 2015 they have played at several large festivals in Europe.
The project is exceptional both musically and visually, because Mazur is bringing the Norwegian dancer Tine Aspaas with her to contribute to the visual image. We are certain that this will a unique concert with many extraordinary performers you do not want to miss.
