Anja Lauvdal is one of Norway’s most prolific and versatile musicians and composers. She has been awarded Oslo Jazzfestival’s Young Star award, and in 2021 Lauvdal was appointed ambassador of NTNU's music conservatory. Last year she was artist in residence at the Punkt festival and was also commissioned to compose “The School of Lost Borders” for the same festival. Furthermore in 2020 she made another commissioned work for Trondheim Jazz orchestra along with Heida Johannesdottir, Ny Musikk’s “Only Connect” and the dance recital “We Come in Peace” in conjunction with Ultima.
She is well known for her work within the free jazz and improv scene, but dabbles in a wide variety of constellations with a liberal view on genre, be it alternative pop, rock, folk music, or jazz.
She has received four Spellemann nominations with her trio Moskus, toured internationally with acts like Jenny Hval, Ola Kvernberg, Susanna, Nils Bech and Erlend Apneseth, in addition to her own bands Broen and Skadedyr.
At this year’s festival Lauvdal will perform solo, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store.
