ASQ // Amund Stenøien Quartet
Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria
Saturday 19th August 14:00
A breath of fresh air | Oslo Jazzfestival 2023
Trondheim-based Amund Stenøien, has been leading a quartet of young musicians for the past years, while establishing his own modern jazz expression. The result is an innovative jazz quartet with strong themes, explosive solos, and truly inspiring originality.
With their dreamy sound - courtesy of their line-up of vibraphone, acoustic fretless bass, piano, and drums - Stenøien combines hard hitting New York jazz, club grooves, and strong singable melodies. All of this is packed into an energy bomb of a band. Their music aims to be poignant all the while offering complex rhythmic and harmonic structures under the surface.
ASQ has played a dozen concerts in Norway already, including last years Oslo Jazz Festival and Trondheim Jazz Festival - they were also chosen to launch Jazzfests new venture “Joyn in”. Alongside ASQ you’ll find Stenøien in bands like Stenøien / Hjemmen / Heide Bø , Skaali Quartet, and Acts of the Unconscious.
Amund Stenøien (vibraphone), Joakim Rainer Petersen (piano), Steinar Heide Bø (drums), Gard Kronborg (acoustic fretless bass)
Concert starts 16:00
