Johan Lindström is one of the most versatile and sought-after musicians in Scandinavia, and has contributed his exquisite guitar and pedal steel tones in countless settings. He has impressed in collaborations with artists such as Elvis Costello, Gregory Porter, Susanne Sundfør, and Ane Brun, in addition to leading his own critically acclaimed septet. With credentials like these, it is only natural that Brian Blade wanted to play with Lindström as part of Blade’s festival artist program.
Brian Blade’s drumming fits perfectly into Lindström’s cinematic and free-spirited musical universe. With a playing style that is both dynamic and energetic, Blade has inspired several generations of drummers around the world. He is equally at home in the pop and rock sphere as in jazz, always with a sharp focus on the melodic core, while still leaving room for exploration and full intensity. Blade is the drummer absolutely everyone wants to play with, and he uses tradition as a foundation for constantly moving forward.
