Emil Bø: Not Normal
Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria

Not normal at all | Oslojazz 2024
Trombonist Emil Bø has, despite his young age, been a central figure in the jazz scene for several years. He has made his mark in various areas, ranging from playing in the brass section of well-known pop bands at major festivals, to delivering remarkable solo concerts. Bø explores his instrument to its extremes and is constantly in pursuit of different sounds and tones that can be produced from the trombone. Last year at Oslojazz, Bø was awarded the USBL Jazz Talent, part of which includes a concert in the next year's festival program. And here we are.
The music that Bø has composed is titled NOT NORMAL. The material is inspired by the absurdities of everyday life and all sorts of strange expectations about what should be considered normal. Bø has gathered a group of extremely talented musicians who will interpret the music based on a blend of graphic scores, where traditional riffs open up possibilities for explosive and expressive melodies.
