Eyes to the Sun brings together three distinctive musicians with rare power and depth. Award-winning pianist Leo Genovese joins forces with Camila Nebbia on saxophone and Alfred Vogel on drums, and the result is striking. Here, you get free jazz that radiates spontaneous joy and unmatched precision.
Genovese’s piano playing paints sonic landscapes in shifting light, moving seamlessly between calm and intensity. Nebbia’s saxophone travels between whispers and cries, while Vogel’s drumming breathes space into the ensemble and grounds the music.
Genovese has for several years established himself as a remarkable pianist equally at home in jazz and rock. He has performed with artists including Wayne Shorter, Esperanza Spalding, and The Mars Volta. Nebbia is currently one of the most striking saxophonists on the scene, performing in various ensembles with Kit Downes, Chris Corsano, and also Amalie Dahl in the project DaughterDaughter. Vogel is a force of nature behind the drum kit, with an intense and dynamic playing style.
The trio’s sound invites the listener not to look away, but instead to look forward — toward warmth, presence, and the sun.
