Fåx Trått was founded by trombone player Kristoffer Kompen, who wanted to fuse traditional 1920’s jazz with modern improvised jazz.
To realize his vision he recruited Atle Nymo on saxophone and bass clarinet, André Roligheten on sax and clarinet, Eyolf Dale on piano, Trygve Fiske on double bass and Hans Hulbækmo on drums.
Fåx Trått is built upon old traditions, inspired by blues, rags and stomps from the infancy of jazz itself. The group deconstructs original compositions from jazz greats like Jelly Roll Morton and Duke Ellington. Tearing them apart and carefully putting them back together. Always with the utmost of respect and love for the original compositions. Fåx Trått is in a way more like a creative platform, a playground where each musician is free to craft their own modern twists on old classics. The essence of Fåx Trått is free jazz with clear lines to 100 years of jazz history.
