Classic album revisited | Oslojazz 2026
Fennesz is the solo project of Austrian musician, composer, and sound artist Christian Fennesz. Since the early 1990s, he has been one of the most innovative and influential figures in electronic and experimental music, thanks in large part to groundbreaking releases such as the classic album Endless Summer, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and will be performed in its entirety this evening at Blå.
Endless Summer is a landmark in electronic music and one of the great classics of the 2000s, regardless of genre. On the album, Fennesz masterfully blends elements of post-rock, glitch, and ambient into a harmonious and almost psychedelic whole. The guitar playing woven together with the electronics creates a mosaic-like and melodic effect, making Fennesz a true master of his craft.
In addition to an impressive solo career, Fennesz is also a highly sought-after collaborator and has worked with artists including Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian, and Jim O’Rourke, with whom he recently toured. He has also composed music for film, theater, and several sound installations.
We look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Endless Summer at Blå, the perfect venue to experience Fennesz’s distinctive and atmospheric soundscapes.
