It's been 15 years since Hedvig Mollestad was named the Young Jazz Talent of the Year at Moldejazz in 2009, and in the same year, the Hedvig Mollestad Trio was formed. During these 15 years, the band has been at the front line in delivering energetic and heavy rock performed with jazz finesse. The power trio has released several critically acclaimed albums on the prominent record label Rune Grammofon and is an undisputed live favourite, having performed everywhere from small venues to large concert halls and jazz festivals around the world.

References flow freely among critics, with mentions of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, and Miles Davis' electric period. Although there's no doubt that the Hedvig Mollestad Trio enjoys the intersection where rock meets improvised jazz, they drive their own, sequin-covered style.

The band is always a joy to experience on the concert stage, where Mollestad's thick and thunderous riffs, Ellen Brekken's pumping basslines, and Ivar Loe Bjørnstad's hard-hitting rhythms shine side by side. This evening, Oslo Jazz Festival invites you to two parties with HM3 at Herr Nilsen, with a concert at 7:00 PM and another at 10:00 PM. We recommend catching both.
