Liv Andrea Hauge Trio
Blå - Himmel
Wednesday 14th August 18:00
Trio in Free Flow | Oslojazz 2024
It's not easy to carve out one's own path and distinguish oneself within the classical piano trio format, but the Liv Andrea Hauge Trio has done so successfully. In the trio, pianist, and composer Liv Andrea Hauge collaborates with Georgia Wartel Collins on bass (at least usually; this evening, extraordinary bass substitute Fredrik Luhr Dietrichson steps in), and August Glännestrand on drums.
Hauge's compositions focus on groove, simple, melodic melodies, and spontaneous interaction between the musicians. The band draws inspiration from the rich tradition of modern piano jazz, with an expression inspired by, among others, the Paul Bley Trio, Maria Kannegaard Trio, Moskus, and Kit Downes.
Since their debut in the summer of 2022, the trio has maintained a high level of activity, releasing two albums, undertaking extensive touring in Norway and Europe, and receiving prestigious awards, including being named winners of the European Jazz Network's Zenith Award in 2024. The trio's second album, Ville Blomster, was released earlier this year on the renowned label Hubro/Grappa. The album has received excellent reviews both domestically and internationally, including being highlighted by the French magazine Qobuz as one of the "10 jazz artists to watch in 2024."
