Exciting quartet | Oslojazz 2026
Madmax is a progressive band started by four friends in the jazz department in Trondheim. With the exotic composition of tuba, synth, vocals, guitar, and drums, and a rather nonchalant attitude towards genre boundaries, the band plays fearless music that is perfect for both unrestrained dancing and contemplation.
The band was formed in 2022 and has since played concerts at, among others, Trondheim Calling, Oslo Jazzfestival, Dokkhuset scene and Salt. In the summer of 2024 they had their international debut during a work stay at La Maison Matrice in Switzerland. Here they wrote much of the music that will appear on their first album: We’re bringing dubstep back!. The album was recorded at Studio Paradiso with Martin Tonne (pom poko) as producer and was released on Jazzland Recordings earlier this year.
In the spring of 2026 they played as one of eight bands in the launch program Jazzintro, and at the same time they are traveling on tour to promote their debut album. Now they are returning to Oslojazz after their brilliant Oslojazz Talent concerts last year!
