Magnolia Jazzband has been a central part of the Norwegian jazz community for over 35 years. The band has a big loyal audience in Norway, but also play numerous gigs in Europe, as well as the home town of the jazz – New Orleans. Rooted in 20s- and 30s New Orleans jazz, Magnolia Jazz Band hold a rich church repertoire, having played several hundred church concerts.
As always Magnolia Jazzband invites a guest solo performer to their concert, and this year is no exception. This time the band has invited notable Norwegian jazz singer Beate Lech. Known for her work with Beady Belle, Lech was last seen and heard at Oslo Jazz Festival in 2017 when they played the outdoor stage at Karpedammen. Lech also made a name for her self in the TV-show Stjernekamp, broadcasted on NRK.
The last few years Magnolia Jazzband’s festival concerts at Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria have been sold out, and with Beate Lech on the bill we’re quite sure that this will be the case this year as well.
