Marcos Valle
Blå
Tuesday 13th August 21:00
Marcos Valle is coming Tuesday, August 13th to perform at the outdoor terrace of Blå during the Oslo Jazz Festival! If there's one musician who can be said to have distilled Rio de Janeiro's sunny beach life into pure musical form, it's indeed Valle.
He's been doing this for over sixty years, with a creative force that has influenced both his own compositions and Brazilian music at large. He's been there since the infancy of bossa nova in the 1960s and has never forgotten where he comes from – even as he has followed the evolution through decades, from psychedelia through funk and disco, back to a style that could be called a maturation of the earlier bossa nova form.
The story of Marcos Valle is the story of a talented musician who has had significant impact on the laid-back, jazzy coolness that characterizes bossa nova. It's also the story of a musician who found the military junta's dictatorship increasingly unbearable and emigrated to the USA. Here, he entered fruitful collaborations with artists like Leon Ware and Sarah Vaughn, leaving his mark on 1980s pop music.
After a decade of silence, he returned with the album "Nova Bossa Nova" in 1997 – and the circle was complete. Today, Marcos Valle is considered an innovative and exciting musician with a large and varied repertoire.
Concert starts: 21.00
