A warm and intimate collaboration | Oslojazz 2026
Maridalen returns with a new project – this time in collaboration with songwriter and storyteller Lars Lillo-Stenberg, known for having shaped Norwegian rock for over 40 years with deLillos and for his distinctive interpretations of songs in the folk tradition. The result is Fransk utgang (French Exit), recorded in the spring of 2025 in the small French village of Sanxay. Although the music was created in the French countryside, Maridalen and Lillo-Stenberg ensure a consistently strong Oslo identity throughout the project.
The songs were written and composed together during the stay and revolve around travel, observations from village life, longing, curiosity, and the feeling of coming home again. The lyrics reflect on what it really means to go away – and what one discovers along the way.
In recent years, Maridalen has made a strong mark both nationally and internationally, with three critically acclaimed albums and concerts at festivals across Europe. With Fransk utgang, they open the door to a new musical landscape together with Lillo-Stenberg. Where Lillo-Stenberg’s distinctive expression meets Maridalen’s open, Nordic chamber jazz, a music emerges that is both melodic and narrative, open and intimate. Welcome to a glorious concert experience at Kulturkirken Jakob!
