Magical, lyrical free jazz | Oslo Jazzfestival 2023
Named after the wise tortoise in Kung Fu Panda movies, Master Oogway was invited to play five monthly concerts at Kafé Hærverk throughout the fall of 2020. A new guest was invited to play alongside the band for each concert.
All five concerts were recorded and planned to be released in a “best of” compilation from each night. However, the concert with Henriette Eilertsen proved so magical that it was released entirely on its own in 2022 on Rune Grammofon. It was titled Happy Village and has since been nominated for a Norwegian Grammy.
Master Oogway is known as a boiling free jazz band and joined by the prominent soloist Henriette Eilertsen, we will experience the band in a new, lyrical, and bubbling mode.
