Serenity now | Oslojazz 2025
Mona Krogstad sees music as one of the most beautiful forms of communication we humans create with one another, and is fascinated by how the language of music can encompass so many images, emotions, and moods.
With strong compositions and melodic richness, the band moves through an open landscape where improvisation and interplay are at the heart. The music draws inspiration from both the jazz tradition and contemporary Nordic jazz, with references to Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, and a lyrical, Scandinavian tonal language.
The quartet performs music from the debut album Virgo Sun (Øra Fonogram, 2022), as well as newer material from the commissioned work Serenity Now, which premiered at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 2024 and will be released as an album in 2026. The compositions revolve thematically around love, communication, and spirituality, inviting the listener into a dynamic, meditative universe where contrasts between power and stillness, structure and freedom are allowed to unfold.
