Music that makes sparks fly | Oslojazz 2025

Oslo Jazz Festival is proud to present Joshua Redman, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra & Eirik Hegdal as this year's opening concert at Cosmopolite on Monday, August 11!

The project began when Redman appeared as a guest on Space is Still the Place, a work composed by Eirik Hegdal in 2006. This led to further collaboration, resulting in the critically acclaimed album Triads and More, as well as several concerts around the world. It has been many years since their last performance, but now there is finally a new opportunity.

The star saxophonist Joshua Redman has been a favorite among both audiences and critics since he debuted in the 90s, with a fresh and melodic approach to the modern American jazz tradition. Redman is the festival artist of the year at Oslo Jazz, with a total of three amazing concerts during the festival.

This year, the always brilliant Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the year will be marked, among other things, with this festive concert. Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is well known far beyond our borders, with prominent projects with legends like Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Maria Kannegaard, and Joshua Redman.

This is a spectacular collaboration that continues to spark excitement nearly 20 years after they first performed together. The stage is set for a powerful opening of Oslo Jazz Festival 2025!
