The all-star team POING is one of the most vital trios in the Norwegian jazz and improv scene. Since the band’s inception in 1999 the trio has performed over 100 original works, improvised with musicians from all over the world and released numerous records.
At this year’s Oslo Jazzfestival they’ll perform their collaboration with beloved Norwegian pop/rock icon Lars Lillo-Stenberg. POING and Lillo-Stenberg met for the first time back in 2003 and has been frequent collaborators since. As front man of deLillos, Lillo-Stenberg has proven himself as an excellent guitar player, composer and lead singer. In 2017 they released the EP Stakkars Oslo with Lars Lillo-Stenberg, named after one of his original songs.
At this year’s festival they’ll perform a selection of Lillo-Stenberg classics and Poing compositions. There’s also a chance you might hear Neil Young and George Harrison covers when they’re playing at Salt.
