Rymden came into this world in 2018, after Bugge Wesseltoft felt the urge to play in a trio format again. The rhythm section from the Esbjørn Svensson Trio joined soon joined, forming the rest of the trio, with Magnus Öström on drums and Dan Berglund on bass. Suddenly, a new super trio was formed, connecting two innovative forces that were pioneering European jazz in the 90´s and 00´s, namely e.s.t. and Wesseltoft's New Conception of Jazz.

In many ways, this is a natural union of superpowers, and consequently, Rymden has been both audience and critic favorites since its inception. The trio finds inspiration in everything from modern jazz, Bach, film music, to variations of rock. Always exploratory and searching, with dynamic and atmospheric tracks driven by explosive rhythms and virtuoso playing.

On their latest album Valleys & Mountains, all these elements come to the forefront. As a listener, you find yourself on a journey through soundscapes that take you through deep valleys and high peaks, and back down to ground level again.
