Sinikka Langeland is one of Norway’s leading folk musicians and is recognised by her strong and expressive voice and refined performances on the kantele.
During the winter of 2021, Sinikka Langeland premiered her new music and poetry for a star-spangled team of musicians. This time, she has combined her music with poems by Norwegian honorary poet and author Jon Fosse. Her team of musicians take her compositions to new levels with the addition of their improvisations and eminent musical interactions.
Sinikka has a deep interest in nature’s mystique and has found that this resonates with Fosse’s poetry. The music is based on folk tunes but she wishes to include the timeless aspects of the poems with the present day, alongside musicians that contribute with their modern expression. All of which are highly skilled soloists with their own ensembles and international careers.
The Kantele sounds like an orchestra in and of itself and with the rest of the talented ECM-musicians Sinikka Langeland gives us a concert inspired by Jon Fosses timeless western Norwegian landscapes in wind, sun, sea, and sky.
