In a Supersilent way | Oslojazz 2024

"Supersilent at BLÅ" - there's something about that sentence that just fits, two institutions merging together. BLÅ's concrete-clad interior and delightful industrial character suit Supersilent's elements of noise and minimalism like a glove. In that regard, Supersilent has never really lived up to their band name, where noise is an essential part of their DNA.

The band is considered one of the cornerstones of the Norwegian music scene, having made a tremendous impact both domestically and internationally for over 25 years with an open approach to improvisation. Like their 14 studio albums, all concerts with Supersilent are completely improvised. Each concert is therefore a unique experience, with no risk of repetition. The path is created as one navigates through rugged terrain.

This approach is transferred to a music that is indefinable but has a broad scope that crosses and shifts the boundaries between rock, electronica, jazz, and contemporary music. Thoughts are drawn both to Miles at the Fillmore and Stockhausen in Donaueschingen, and everything in between. It is therefore difficult to predict exactly what will happen at the Oslo Jazz Festival and BLÅ this evening, but one thing is for sure: Everything will happen in the distinct Supersilent way.
