The Quartet The Source has over the past twenty five years established themselves as a rock solid jazz institution in Oslo. The quartet consists of saxophonist Trygve Seim, trombonist Øyvind Brekke, bassist Mats Eilertsen and drummer Per Oddvar Johansen.
The Opening Concert of Oslo Jazz Festival 2020 was supposed to be The Source of Oslo, an expansive large scale project at the Opera including musicians and performers from all over the world. When it turns out that this is not a feasible option we’re pleased to be able to invite the Oslo Jazz audience to an exclusive quartet concert at Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria.
Last year The Source had two recording sessions: First composing and recording the score for Elsa Kvamme’s Jan Erik Vold documentary, which triggered the writing of new material that laid the foundation for their upcoming album recorded in the second session.
In other words, there’s a good chance you’ll get to hear some new material from the Source this evening!
