In recent years the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra has proved itself to be a really exciting and versatile big band. This is possibly the result of TJO’s project-based approach, with different musical directors and line-ups. The band’s collaborative partners include the likes of Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, New York Voices, Joshua Redman as well as noted Norwegian players such as Erlend Skomsvoll, Jon Balke and Anja Lauvdal/Heida Mobeck (Skrap).
Their concert at this year’s OJF will put the spotlight on bassist Ole Morten Vågan, one of Norway’s most sought-after musicians. Perhaps you’ve seen and heard him with the quintet Motif, or together with names such as Bugge Wesseltoft, Joshua Redman, John Scofield, Terje Rypdal, Maria Kannegaard, Nils Petter Molvær or Jon Christensen.
TJO & Ole Morten Vågan’s concerts have enraptured audiences from Trondheim to Bremen, and we’re certain there’ll also be an exultant crowd at the Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria during the OJF.
