Wako is a young Norwegian band with an impressive catalogue. The quartet consists of Martin Myhre Olsen (saxophone), Kjetil André Mulelid (piano), Bárður Reinert Poulsen (bass), and Simon Olderskog Albertsen (drums), musicians we know well from the Norwegian jazz scene. You may have seen and heard them with bands like Hegge, Megalodon Collective, Espen Berg Trio, Kjetil Mulelid Trio, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, to name a few.
Their latest album, "Wako", was released in February this year on Øra Fonogram, and added to the series as the fourth in five years. The album has 13 tracks, a slew of guests, and a whole lot of creativity and “fingerspitzengefühl”.
On the long list of partners we find Oslo Strings, Rob Waring, Jonas Kullhammar, Adrian Løseth Waade, Sissel Vera Pettersen and Arve Henriksen. The music never stops with this band, it engages and is constantly moving.
