The Ella Prize 2023
Audun Vinger and Filip Roshauw are awarded the Ella Prize 2023!
Oslo Jazz Festival appoints the Ella Prize every year to a person that has contributed to the Oslo jazz scene.
To be qualified, you have to promote the city’s jazz scene in at least one of these ways:
- Help spread information about Oslo Jazz Festival
- Participate in the organization of Oslo Jazz Festival, both before and during the festival, over many years
- Participate as a musician of high, international level during Oslo Jazz Festival over many years
- Made a noticeable effort to better the jazz scene, -clubs, and -musicians in Oslo
The Ella Prize is a recognition, a thank you, and an honor. The winner receives a painting by the Festival Artist Fredrick Arnøy.
This year’s winners have over many years made a big and meaningful impact on the jazz scene in Oslo. They have been active both on and off the stage, and as mediators of everything that’s going on in the jazz field.
As audience members, they have made an admirable effort to catch almost everything that happens in jazz here in Oslo. They publish a weekly jazz blog that covers concerts and other news, focusing on the city and area surrounding it. The blog is overflowing with passion and is extremely competently written.
For the first time ever, the winner of this year’s Ella Prize consists of two people, a team - a duo. Whatever they accomplish, they do it together. The duo receiving this year’s award are two highly profiled music writers that now share the editorial responsibility for the jazz magazine Jazznytt.
The winners are, as you can see, two very worthy winners. It is an honor to assign the Ella Prize 2023 to Audun Vinger and Filip Roshauw.
