Four in a row
Four awesome concerts added
This week we have added four new concerts to the festival programme. All four concerts make an eclectic and lovely mix, with a pulsating and fresh jazz spirit. Tickets are on sale now!
Mette Henriette
Mette Henriette is a Sámi-Norwegian saxophonist, composer, improviser, and bandleader. With her genre-defying approach, she moves effortlessly from free jazz to folk music-inspired contemporary compositions. Her latest album Drifting, invites listeners into the trio's deep and intimate dialogue—spellbinding chamber music that draws you in and doesn’t easily let go.
Everything is in place for a powerful concert experience in the University Aula, with Mette Henriette’s music painting its own scenic and lush world, performed by a world-class trio.
Mette Henriette performs at the Universitetets Aula Thursday August 14th 18.00. Tickets can be purchased here.
Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio feat. Immanuel Wilkins
After last year’s edition of the Jazzintro launch program, the trio was named Young Jazz Musicians of the Year 2024. The jury’s statement includes: “Their melodic and harmonic ideas give them a distinctive identity that results in beautiful moments. The band's confidence and presence are contagious for the audience and make you curious to hear more.”
Distinctive identity and presence can certainly also be said of saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins. One of the truly great young stars in the jazz sphere at the moment, with three critically acclaimed albums, all ranking at the top of annual best-of lists.
Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio feat. Immanuel Wilkins performs at Nasjonal jazzscene Saturday August 16th 15.00. No age limit! Tickets can be purchased here.
Eyolf Dale Trio
Eyolf Dale has, over the past ten years, impressed the global jazz audience with his rhythmic drive, exploratory curiosity, and lyrical, singing tonal language.
Earlier this year, the album When Shadows Dance was released to fantastic reviews from the music press. Here, Dale has assembled a trio of top-tier musicians. Drummer Audun Kleive is a cornerstone of Norwegian jazz, with no fewer than nearly two hundred releases to his name. Bassist Per Zanussi is widely known for his original, exploratory style.
Eyolf Dale Trio performs at Herr Nilsen Thursday August 14th 19.00. Tickets can be purchased here.
Y-OTIS TRE
Y-OTIS is led by the Swedish saxophonist Otis Sandsjö, who is based in Berlin. There, he has shaped Y-OTIS into a boundary-breaking band that cooks up a liberating mix of jazz, electronica, and hip hop. Hypnotic saxophone riffs and jagged rhythms create a fascinating sound mosaic, all masterfully and playfully put together by Sandsjö and co-producer and bassist Petter Eldh.
Now, we get to experience them outdoors at the lovely Juret, in a dynamic and exciting trio format.
Y-OTIS TRE performs at Juret Friday August 15th 20.00. Tickets can be purchased here.
