Joshua Redman is this year’s festival artist
Redman with residency at Oslo Jazzfestival
Oslo Jazz Festival is proud to present the American saxophonist Joshua Redman as this year's festival artist. Redman is one of the greatest international jazz stars of modern times, and he has forged close ties with the Norwegian jazz scene through various projects and visits to Norway over the years.
Oslo Jazz Festival will present both old and new collaborations between Redman and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Wesseltoft/Andersen/Johansen, and Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity.
Joshua Redman will open the Oslo Jazz Festival 2025 together with the 25th-anniversary Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Eirik Hegdal, a collaboration that continues to spark excitement nearly 20 years after its debut. This will take place at Cosmopolite on Monday, August 11 at 18:00.
Tickets can be purchased here.
On Wednesday, August 13, there will be a thrilling meeting with a quartet featuring Redman on saxophone, Bugge Wesseltoft on piano, Arild Andersen on bass, and Per Oddvar Johansen on drums. Four giants will finally reunite on stage after many years. The concert will take place at the University Aula at 18:00.

The concert series concludes with Redman and Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity at the National Jazz Scene on Thursday, August 14 at 21.00 PM. I’ve learned so much and had so much fun playing with so many great Norwegian musicians over all these years. And I am so looking forward to reuniting with some of them again this summer in Oslo. I have no doubt it will be one of my most intense and enjoyable musical experiences of 2025, says Redman about coming to Oslo Jazzfestival.
