Marius Neset & Leif Ove Andsnes plays Oslojazz 2025!
Who We Are to be performed in the Opera Saturday 16th August
Oslo Jazz Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival are proud to present Marius Neset & Leif Ove Andsnes – Who We Are at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Saturday, August 16th. Tickets go on sale Friday 22. November at 10.00.
- It takes time to find space in the calendar for these two world-leading musicians, so we have been working on this concert for over a year," says festival director Line Juul. That is why it is a great pleasure to finally be able to present Marius Neset & Leif Ove Andsnes exclusively at the Opera.
The album Who We Are is an innovative collaboration between saxophonist/composer Marius Neset and pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, two of the world’s leading performers in jazz and classical music, respectively. Who We Are has received glowing reviews from the press both in Norway and internationally, and this will be an exclusive opportunity to experience the music live. With the Main Stage at the Opera House as the setting, a truly unique concert experience awaits.
- It is especially nice to collaborate with our good friends at the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, and especially on this project that so elegantly unites two world stars from jazz and classical music. We look forward to a great concert experience this Saturday in August, says Juul.
As musicians from different traditions, Neset and Andsnes usually work with distinct stylistic ideals within their respective expressions. With Neset's compositions and the duo’s sparkling interplay, the traditions and expressions of jazz and classical music intertwine to create music that defies easy categorization. On stage, they are joined by Ingrid Søfteland Neset, former principal flutist of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and Louisa Tuck, principal cellist of the Oslo Philharmonic, who also has an extensive solo career.
