Metheny returns to Oslo Jazz Festival

The legendary Pat Metheny is coming to Oslo Jazz Festival and will be playing in Oslo Concert Hall Saturday August 16th, 20.30.
It is a great pleasure for the Oslo Jazz Festival to have one of the biggest international jazz stars on this year's festival program! Pat Metheny has a large and dedicated fan base in Norway and a long-standing relationship with the Norwegian jazz community, says festival director Line Juul.
Pat Metheny is one of the most prominent and influential guitarists of the past 50 years and has long made a massive mark in jazz history. After being a defining musician for several decades, he remains as vital as ever. It is a pleasure to welcome him back to the Oslo Jazz Festival, where he will perform solo on stage at the Oslo Concert Hall as part of the Dream Box/MoonDial tour.
Metheny made his breakthrough with Gary Burton's quartet before debuting as a solo artist with the album Bright Size Life in 1976. Since his debut, Metheny has been a perpetual innovator, both as a virtuosic guitarist and as a musical bridge between jazz and other genres. Throughout his extensive career, he has won 20 Grammy Awards, written film music and books. Metheny has collaborated with renowned names such as Chick Corea, Ornette Coleman, Joni Mitchell, and David Bowie, in addition to Norwegian greats like Jan Garbarek and Silje Nergaard.
Metheny's latest album MoonDial is a deeply personal work, where his own compositions are combined with beautiful interpretations of songs like Here, There and Everywhere by The Beatles and You're Everything by Chick Corea.
