Kenny Barron has been one the foremost jazz pianists since the 1960s. He’s played with Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, Yusef Lateef, Buster Williams, Roy Haynes and Stan Getz. Barron has also taught at Rutgers University and at Juilliard.
Few pianists are able to spellbind the public like Kenny Barron with his elegant playing, delicate melodies and captivating rhythms. The Los Angeles Times described him as “one of the top jazz pianists in the world” and Jazz Weekly states he is “the most lyrical piano player of our time”.
Kenny Barron hasn’t played in Oslo since 2001. “Jazz piano enthusiasts cannot wish for more than was on offer at Oslo Konserthus”, wrote Tor Hammerø of Pulsafter the concert. We are quite certain that it will be just as good this time round, and perhaps even more magnificent in such a fine and intimate venue as the Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria. Here you can hear him in trio format accompanied by Kiyoshi Kitagawa on bass and Jonathan Blake on drums.
