The vocal sextet Nordic Voices and the jazz trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær are among the best musicians within their fields far beyond their Norwegian homeland. Their meditative program consists of music from the Middle Ages to modern times, originally a cappella, only accompanied by the thought-provoking and improvised sound of Molvær’s trumpet.
Jazz trumpeter, composer and producer Nils Petter Molvær is considered a pioneer in combining different genres within jazz and electronic music. Molvær made his album debut in 1983 with the legendary Norwegian band Masqualero. Since then he has
collaborated with several renowned musicians, like Marilyn Mazur and Ketil Bjørnstad who are also playing at this year’s Oslo Jazzfestival, and has created music for numerous tv series, films, documentaries and plays as well as ballett music for The Norwegian Opera & Ballett.
Nordic Voices voices was formed 1996. The vocal ensemble has toured in countries such as South Africa, Taiwan, Bolivia and USA in addition to Norway. Since their formation they’ve spellbound their audiences with their artistic creativity, versatility and technical precision.
During the festival, they will perform an entirely acoustic concert together in Grønland Church.
