Oslo Jazzfestival’s opening concerts have previously paid tribute to legendary musicians such as Nora Brokstedt, Radka Toneff and Joni Mitchell, with great success. This year the festival wants to pay it’s tribute to a big group of people, a society and a place: the city Oslo.
The tribute takes place at The Norwegian Opera and Ballet (Den Norske Opera og Ballett) the 9th of August at 5.00pm, and the ticket sale has already started!
Over the last two decades The Source have proven themselves as a rock solid jazz institution in Oslo. They’ve also impressed jazz fanz with the Source of Summer album and concert at The Norwegian National Theatre, an exciting collaboration with rock legends Motorpsycho, and not least as the quartet the Source.
– We are excited to present the Source of Oslo as our opening concert at the Opera. The Source has given us improvisational music with impulses from every possible corner of the world during the last two decades. This will be a celebratory evening with ground-breaking music that will praise the city of Oslo, says festival director Øyvind Skjerven Larsen.
