Bedehus & Hawaii feat. Geir Sundstøl
In 2017, the guitarist and composer Trond Kallevåg Hansen received the Statoil Sildajazz Prize, he was asked to create a commissioned work for last year’s Sildajazz. The work was named “Bedehus & Hawaii”, and refers to all the summers Hansen spent at his grandparents’ place on Bømlo. He uses this and other elements from his childhood and adolescence as an inspiration for his compositions. To perform the work Hansen is bringing his trio with him, with the addition of the renowned musicians Adrian Løseth Waade and Geir Sundstøl.
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra w/ Alf Hulbækmo
Last year Alf Hulbækmo was named the Sparebank 1 SMN JazZtipendat (Grant recipient), and therefore the opportunity to develop the commissioned work “Skumringsbarda” with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. This is a fantasy world Hulbækmo himself has created and composed the music to. The concert premieres during this year’s Molde International Jazz Festival but can already be experienced in Grønland Church less than a month later.
